Hello, I'm Ryan Edwards, the founder of Sunrise Pest Defense. Allow me to share my journey and passion behind the creation of this locally owned and operated pest control company in Columbia.

In 2007, I embarked on my career in pest control when I was hired by a local company. Little did I know, this would be the beginning of such a fulfilling journey filled with dedication and passion for helping others. Through hard work and perseverance, I rose to become the top technician in terms of both production and customer satisfaction. With the lowest rate of callbacks for pest issues, I earned a reputation for caring with excellence in service, professionalism, and friendliness.

Over the years, I continued to expand my knowledge and expertise in pest biology, habits, and control methods. My commitment to excellence led me to become a trainer for newer technicians and eventually a Team Lead. I took pride in advising management and the team on the best products and methods to ensure effective pest control solutions for our valued customers.

What truly drove me was the opportunity to provide service that made a difference in people's lives. I found joy in meeting customers, building relationships, and helping them solve or prevent pest problems. Many of these interactions turned into lasting friendships, enriching both my professional and personal life.

However, as often happens in the corporate world, change was on the horizon. The company I worked for was acquired by a larger multi-state pest control company. With the change in management came what seemed to me to be a shift in priorities, and I sensed a departure from the personalized service and community connection that I cherished.

It became clear to me that there was a need for a truly local alternative. I believe that the success of a service business is rooted in genuine connections and quality service, not just numbers on a spreadsheet. A local business isn't just one with a local branch—it's a business where decisions are made locally and the owner is your neighbor with a real connection to the community who is invested in its well-being.

With this belief in mind, I made the decision to step out on my own. In early 2024, after 16 and a half years of dedicated service, I founded Sunrise Pest Defense. My mission? To provide the highest quality, effective and affordable pest control services while fostering genuine concern for the people and community I serve.
